Herndon closes Socal Tour with win

Melissa Herndon

The crowd at Hollywood Billiards witnessed a great show in the final match of the last stop on the Southern California Women's Tour. After California State Champion, Melissa Herndon defeated Stacy Hurst for the hot seat 7-3, she would battle Cassie Anderson in the final match. With the race to 9 match tied 8-8, Herndon was forced to play safe on the 8-ball hiding the cue ball behind the 9. Anderson then stepped to the table and executed a fantastic jump shot to contact the 8 but watched her chances in the match disappear when the cue ball skipped off the table with the 8-ball hanging in the jaws of the pocket. Herndon then went on and finished off the last 2 balls with ball in hand for the win.

Hurst and Stefanie Boch (formerly Nakagawa) filled out the top 4 spots. The win earned Herndon the #2 position on the points list, just behind Stacy Hurst. Veronica Vivette and Cassie Anderson finished in 3rd and 4th on the points list.

Vivette upsets Hurst in Oceanside

Stacy Hurst lost a heartbreaking match to Veronica Vivette in the finals of the Southern California Women's Billiards Tour event at Family Billiard Center in Oceanside, California. Stacy had lost an early match to Stefanie Boch (formerly Nakagawa) and had fought back to defeat Boch 5-4 in the semi-finals to set up the match with Vivette. Leading 8-7 in the finals, Hurst scratched on a 9-ball allowing Vivette to pull the match to 8-8 and then go on to take the case game for the tournament win. Boch and Cassie Anderson finished in 3rd and 4th at the event.

Hurst wins in San Diego

Stacy Hurst

Stacy Hurst came back from the one loss side to defeat former California State Champion Tina Pawlowski 9-2 and won the second stop on the Southern California Womens Billiards Tour at College Billiards in San Diego this weekend.

Pawlowski looked to be on her way to the tournament win when she defeated Patti Hodge for the hot seat but Hurst came back to redeem her earlier loss to Hodge and set up the final match with Pawloski.

Patti Hodge had her best tournament yet with wins over eventual winner Hurst and Stefanie Nakagawa.

Lori Buendorf took 4th place with Cassie Anderson and Nakagawa finishing tied for 5th.
