Stop #2 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series opened up to a tough field of SoCal pool players, with Spencer Ladin (710) picking up a second win in a row! The field featured 2 players in the 700s and 12 in the 600s. The fields are becoming stronger and stronger every month! Spencer defeated Cody Gragg (627) in a single race final, 9-1.
Spencer started his run with a first round win over Jason Wetherald (648), then moved onto victories over Chris Wedekind (638), Bob Jocz (600), tournament director Rudy Torres (598), before losing hill-hill to Cody who took the hot seat.
Cody’s run at Stop #2 included victories over Tony Garcia (620), Jonah Vise (520), Chaokun Li (599), and Johnny Kang (707) before defeating Spencer for the hot seat. The finals was a quick match, with Spencer firing balls in at rapid speeds against Cody to take the tournament down, 9-1.

The second season of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series kicked off on Sunday, January 8th to a tough field of SoCal pool players, with Spencer Ladin (710) tearing through the competition in rapid succession and picking up his first title of the year! The field featured 2 players in the 700s and 9 in the 600s.
Spencer started his run with a first round win over Melissa Morris (591), then moved onto victories over Bobby Lauria (460), tournament director Rudy Torres (599), Alfred Martinez (606), and finally ex-pro Beau Runningen (743) to take his place in the hot seat.
On the losers’ side, Season 1 Top Shooter Josh Farris (685) began his run through the field after taking a first round loss to Beau, defeating Seth Henry (551), Daniel Hobbs (530), Rhino Lay (617), Gigi Callejas (551), 2-time champion Chris Wedekind (634), Alfred Martinez, and finally Stop #9 champion Phong Ha (618). At this point Josh had beaten some of the toughest players in the field, and encountered Beau once more for a shot at the finals. Beau double dipped Josh to make it to the final, but fell short in the end against Spencer, giving the young shooter a 9-4 victory.

Several new players have joined the series: Beau Runninngen, Chaokun Li, David Newcomb, Melissa Morris, Bobby Lauria, Robert Ortega, and Derek Edmonds.
A strong field of amateur players made it out to Gladi8or Pizza & Billiards on April 3rd for some competitive 9 ball on 9 foot tables, with Jon Balan (644) winning the single even race final 6-1 against David Butler (649), one of Bakersfield’s newest members in the series. David had a very strong showing, defeating Gerardo Bathan, Al Garcia, Daniel Alvarez, Rakesh Bunga, and finally Balan before reaching the hot seat.
The losers’ side had great advances by Stop #3 Champion Chris Wedekind, Jeffrey Jamerson, Al Garcia, Tony Garcia and Chris Santana, with Jon ultimately making it through after defeating Chris Wedekind to reach the final.
Several new players have joined the series, including Balan, Lindsay Bunn, Andrew Vazquez, and Bob Jocz. The series continues to grow as players fight for critical points that will get them into the Season Finale in December, where the top 32 players will get to battle it out for free for all the cash!

Stop #3 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series is in the books! Chris Wedekind (631) comes back from a 2nd round defeat to WPBA Pro Melissa Helland (672) to win 5 straight matches and the $500! His victories on the losers’ side included TD Rudy Torres (603), Terrence Lee (575), Charles Pinkett (569), Clay Murray (552) and Jason Wetherald (630).
The winner’s side featured great wins by David Butler (650), Al Garcia (773), and Jason Wetherald. Melissa Herndon won the hot seat in a close hill-hill victory over Al.

The Season Opener for the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series was held on Sunday, January 2nd and was a success! It was a great way to kick off 2022 – we had a full field of 32 players who battled for cash, points and prizes in an exciting Fargo handicapped 9 ball format at LA’s newest pool hall: Gladi8or Pizza & Billiards.
The winner’s side of the field saw advancements by Rhino Lay (561), Chris Wedekind (640), Tony Garcia (600), and Geno Cardenaz (584). Tony reached the hot seat after defeating Chris 6-4. The loser’s side featured strong showings by Kevin Nakamura (623), Gigi Callejas (554), and Johnny Tang (599).
The real story was the incredible comeback by Josh Farris (668) who lost 6-3 in the first round to Rogeur Habachiy (632), but went on an 8-game winning streak on the loser’s side (including a hill-hill win over tournament director Rudy Torres). He went on to win the tournament with an 11-8 victory over Tony in an extended race final. A great showing by both players who battled all day for an event with over $1700 in cash and prizes!
A big congrats also to Justin Mccown who won 2 raffles: the first Break&Run Raffle for FREE entry to the February event, AND the Holly Cases raffle. Also to Geno Cardenaz who won the second Break&Run Raffle for a $50 gift card to Jam Up Apparel. Thanks to all who participated in these raffles!
