Schjodt in Boynton Beach

32 of the top female players in Florida descended on Action Billiards in Boynton Beach, Florida as the Ladies Florida Tour held their October event. The tournament would see some different faces in the final matches as the top players on the points list finished disappointingly low. The only top 5 player still playing in the final three matches was Tracie Majors who finished fourth. The winners side finals saw Debbie Schjodt defeat Margie Soash 9-6. Soash would then move to the one loss side and lose to KC Foster to finish in third place. The extended, race to 11, final went quickly as Schjodt defeated Foster 11-3 for the win.

The victory was worth $600 for Schjodt while Foster took $400 for second. Soash and Majors collected $300 and $200 respectively.

Shaw goes undefeated in Bradenton

Kim Shaw

Kim Shaw, one of the latest players to burst onto the American Ladies Pool scene, ran undefeated thru a field of 41 other players to win the August stop on the Ladies Florida Tour.

Shaw won the hot seat with a 9-4 victory over Penny Swann and then had to face Swann again after Penny dispatched Tracie Majors by the score of 9-7. The extended final match was all Kim Shaw as Kim won 11-2 to get the win.

Majors commented after the match, "Kim and I used to play Snooker against each other years ago and I remember how she plays. Kim shoots everything great. Long shots, safeties, everything."

Shaw commented, "I played very steady in the finals. My safeties and my potting were very good today. Penny played steady up until the finals but when she couldn't get to the table, she couldn't do much. I was prepared for the final match and I knew I had to keep her off the table in order to win."

Shaw collected $700 for the win while Swann took $475 for second. Tracie Majors and Debbie Schjodt filled out the top 4 spots and won $375 and $275 respectively. Tour points leader Jeannie Seaver finished tied for 9th but maintained the #1 spot on the points list.

Seaver wins in Tampa

Jeannie Seaver

Jeannie Seaver won a very close final match at Baker's Billiards in Tampa Florida, to take the July stop on the Ladies Florida Tour this weekend. Jeannie's opponent in the final match was Tracie Majors who had taken the long road to the finals after losing to Former Florida State Champion, Laura Lindauer in her second match of the event. Majors ran thru the one loss side to the end where she defeated Michelle LaDuca to set up the final with Seaver.

With the score tied at 10, Majors missed an 8-ball that allowed Jeannie back to the table where she pocketed the last two balls and won the match 9-8 for the tournament win.

Seaver collected $675 for the win, her second of the year, while Majors took home $475 for second. Laduca and Debbie Schjodt filled out the top 4 spots.
