Carlo Biado is already the 2021 US Open Pool Championship after his win in Atlantic City in September where he won 10 racks in the row to bag this title. In November, just a few days ago, Carlo Biado won the Open 9-Ball Championship held in Abu Dhabi. The event was held in the Power Break Billiard Hall. Biado became the first US Open Champion to win this 9-Ball Championship after Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes won this competition in 1994. The Championship was won against Jordan Banares, another Filipino 13-6 for the unbeaten competition run.
Insight Into Biado’s Championship Wins
Biado outran Banares in all-Pinoy title to rule the Abu Dhabi’s 9-Ball Pool Championship. In the words of Carlo Biado, “I am pleased to win this International Championship in Abu Dhabi, and for the winning exposure.”
Carlo is also the World 9-Ball King as he won the World Championship back in 2017. He defeated Arnel Bautista 9-7 and Mohamad Eiljeffrey from UAE 9-0 in the early rounds of this 2021 9-Ball Championship. He emerged from a 64-man bracket, undefeated in the tournament. Biado says, “I was lucky on the last shot that made me win this tournament.”
Six other Filipino players registered match wins in this 9-Ball Championship. Roland Garcia, the winner of the Oklahoma 9-Ball Open and Wichita 10-Ball Open, pulled off a 9-4 win over the UAE’s player Hussain Ali. Armand Cagol also scored a 9-5 win over fellow player from the Philippines, Jordan Banares. Banares bounced back from that loss to make his way to the finals, where he fell to Biado.
Another Filipino player, Jayson Nuguid also registered a win against Carlo Raymundo, to whom he defeated 9-7. On his success, Jayson Nuguid stated, “The first round of any Championship is always the toughest one because it sets the tone for the whole tournament and helps you to know how to perform the whole game.”
On his win in the US Open Pool Championship, Carlo Biado was also quite happy. He believed that these events had shaped him to perform better in the game, which was the best time of his life. Biado has already brought laurels to his country by also winning the gold medal in the double events in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. With the 9-Ball Abu Dhabi win, the player continues to make a mark for himself.
