The last day of the Dynamic Billard European Championships 2019 saw the finals in the 9-ball individuals in all four divisions. The titles were grabbed by Fedor Gorst (RUS), Jasmin Ouschan (AUT), Pijus Labutis (LTU) and Jouni Tahti (FIN).
Fedor Gorst had a thriller against Joshua Filler (GER) in the men’s 9-ball division. Both player performed tremendously well throughout the event and deserved their spot in the final match. Gorst was always ahead of Filler whose break let him down big time in the match. But the German struck back whenever he could and kept the match open for a long time. Then Gorst got some momentum and went on the hill, taking a nice 8:4 lead over Filler. But one of „Killer Filler’s“ most important talents is that he keeps his nerves together and plays rock solid even when under fire. Filler took some racks off Gorst since the Russian himself had some problems with his break shot in the latter part of the match. Filler even got to the hill and created an 8:8 situation. The heat was on for both players with Gorst having the break shot. He had 2 balls down and an open layout. From there, Filler never got back to the table and Gorst sneaked past the winning line, taking the match with 9:8 over brave Filler.
The women’s final match between Jasmin Ouschan and Nataliya Seroshtan (RUS) turned into a demolition for the Russian. Ouschan determined the match from the start to her liking and Seroshtan could not get a foot on the floor. Having in mind that Ouschan was far below her expectations during this championship, she played up to her standard in the final match and handed a whitewash to Seroshtan with 7:0.
In the Under 23 division, Pijus Labutis was the favoured player over Oliver Szolnoki since he had already taken a title in 8-ball earlier this week. Though Szolnoki performed quite convincing, Labutis was a bit ahead of him because of his focus being set on another title. 9:7 was the final result that brought the second title for Labutis for this week.
In the wheelchair division, all-time favoured Jouni Tahti wasted no time with his opponent Fred Dinsmore. He simply outplayed the Irish and took the match pretty easy with 7:1.
The final medal table displays Russia as the winner of the event, having won 3 Gold Medals, 2 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals. Runner-Up is Poland with 2 Gold, 1 Silver and 4 Bronze Medals with Finland coming in third with 2 Gold Medals, 1 Silver Medal and 3 Bronze medals.

The Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2019 is down to the final 16 players single elimination stage.
As always in the later stages of the Euro-Tour, today saw many great players exiting the field. One of the earliest outs was Thorsten Hohmann (GER) who fell to the sharp blade of Philipp Stojanovic (CRO) with 4:9 in loser’s round 4. Another high profile victim in the same round was David Alcaide (ESP) who got eliminated by Alexander Kazakis (GRE) with 6:9. The same fate was shared by Chis Melling (GBR) who lost 8:9 against unheralded Dimitris Loukatos (GRE) with 8:9 in a heartbreaker.
One of the most prominent casualty of today happened one round later when #1 ranked player Eklent Kaci (ALB) had to give in to Vitaliy Patsura (UKR) with the closest of all results, 8:9.
Apart from those mentioned guns, most of the seeded players reached the single elimination stage as expected. In the round of the last 32 players, the established faces all made their way through to the next round. Only Oliver Ortmann (GER) found no cure against Damianos Giallourakis (GRE) and left the tournament with a 7:9 defeat against the Greek who originates from Rhodes Island and lives in Scandinavia currently. „The Terminator“ Niels Feijen (NED) came up with a super convincing performance against young Sanjin Pehlivanovic (BIH) leaving no chance for the young gun from Bosnia and Hercegovina, winning as clearly as 9:1 over him. Albin Ouschan (AUT) needed some more effort to overpower Kim Laaksonen (FIN) with 9:6 in a fiercely fought over match. Joshua Filler (GER), the player who seems to be on fire at the moment, ended the hopes of Konstantinos Koukiadakis (GRE) with an impressive 9:3 victory. Grandmaster Ralf Souquet (GER), „The Kaiser“ outplayed Georgi Georgiev (BUL) with 9:6 and also still has a saying in who will win the title here in Leende.

After an enormously thrilling final match from both players at the Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2018, Shane Van Boening (USA) defeated Eklent Kaci (ALB) with a heartbreaking 9:8.
The match was a hell of a thriller. Kaci started out furiously and won the first 5 consecutive racks. Van Boening was a bit unlucky and Kaci capitalised from all mistakes without any merci. Somehow van Boening managed to turn the tide in the match. He got to 1:6 and then got some momentum. He took three racks in a row before he allowed Kaci another rack in his account. When the score was 4:7 from van Boening’s point of view, he again shifted into overdrive and got to 7:7. At that time, he went for his timeout. He came back and the Albanian got to the hill first, winning rack 15 to make the score 8:7 for Kaci. Then van Boening broke and ran rack 16 to make the match a hill-hill affair. It was Kaci’s break in the deciding rack 17. He executed a nearly perfect break shot and had the 1-ball and the 5-ball down with a perfect layout and an easy shot on the 2-ball. However, he pocketed the 2-ball but fell short in position for the 3-ball. Because of that, he could not cut the 3-ball in but went for a bank shot. He pocketed the 3-ball over the bank and put the cue ball behind the 7-ball. The 4-ball was completely hidden. What a drama for Kaci. He went for his jump stick and tried to jump the 4-ball in but missed it. Van Boening got to the table and cleared all balls remaining, winning the final match of the Dynamic Billard Leende Open 2018 by a whisker with 9:8 after a brilliant final.
„I always believe in myself“, said van Boening after the final match when asked about the situation when he was trailing 0:5 and 1:6. „I worked on my mental side and I practice a lot. I try to stay calm in those situations and it helped me a lot today“. „Coming to Europe and winning the Euro-Tour as the first American really makes me proud“, van Boening added.
This finish puts Eklent Kaci as the new #1 on the top of the Euro-Tour rankings, leading #2 Mario He and #3 Albin Ouschan (both AUT). „I am very proud to be the #1 ranked player now in Europe,“ Kaci mentioned. „But to be honest at the moment I still suffer from this defeat in the final“, Kaci admitted.
The overall result showed a strong US team playing the Euro-Tour in Leende. Out of 9 players staring on Thursday, 4 were among the last 16 of 159 contestants in total. That is a pretty impressive result and probably gives them a good feeling when travelling home to prepare for the next events.

Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) and Mario He (AUT) went all the way to glory and pocketed the victories in their respective tournament.
In the men’s event, the Dynamic Billard Veldhoven Open 2018 Euro-Tour, Mario He defeated Eklent Kaci with 9:8 after a thrilling final match. In rack #3, Mario He forced Kaci to commit a foul and got ball in hand. But all of a sudden he found himself snookered behind the 6-ball when the 5-ball was on. He had completely misjudged the positioning of that shot. However, Mario He went for his jump stick and pocketed the 5-ball with a tremendous jump-shot over the whole table, having position for the next ball and running the rack to get to a 2:1 advantage over Kaci. The match went along with both players taking racks in turn. It was pretty striking that both played really accurate and only committed mistakes when the opponent forced them to. Balls were always pocketed into he center of the respective pocket. They both were full of self-confidence and optimism. It was Eklent Kaci in rack #15 who missed an easy 2-ball. He played it on the edge of the corner pocket and allowed Mario He to come back to the table though he could have scored to point into his account, going on the hill first. But instead, Mario He won that rack and got to the hill first, putting a hell of a lot of pressure on Kaci. But he wouldn’t be Eklent Kaci if he couldn’t stand the heat. The Albanian performed very calm and scored to make the match hill-hill at 8:8. It was Mario He to break. He had a ball pocketed and a tough shot on the 1-ball. But he fired that ball in without hesitation. Then, the layout was quite makable for him. He pocketed all remaining balls and deservedly won a very high class final match against Eklent Kaci with 9:8.
The women’s final was played between Jasmin Ouschan and Oliwia Czuprynska. Czuprynska had to overcome Sara Rocha (POR) in the semi-final this morning. The outcome of that match was totally open since Rocha really played up to her limits in this event. Czuprynska managed to get a 4:2 lead over Rocha, but the Portuguese struck back and even overtook Czuprynska on the fast lane, conquering 5:4 intermediate advantage over Czuprynska. After that, the batteries of Rocha seemed to have burned out. Czuprynska took the next three racks and won the semi-final with 7:5, booking her seat in the final match. Jasmin Ouschan had her semi-final match against Tamara Peeters-Rademakers (NED). That encounter ran quite smoothly for the favoured Austrian. Ouschan achieved a comfortable 7:3 victory over Peeters-Rademakers and booked her seat for the final match. The final match started out quite even. Both contestants performed rock solid and the was displayed on the scoreboard. After 5 racks, Ouschan had a thin 3:2 lead over Czuprynska. In rack #6, Ouschan missed a long 9-ball and gave Czuprynska a chance to tie the score at 3:3. But Czuprynska also missed and Ouschan did not give her a second attempt and instead scored herself to turn the score 4:2. Form that moment on, Czuprynska had totally lost her rhythm and momentum. As so often, Ouschan dominated the table to her liking. The mistake that Czuprynska made in rack #6 broke her neck and Ouschan grew strong from it. In the end, the finals result displayed on the scoreboard was 7:3 in favour of Ouschan.

Today, the 9-ball competition was launched at the Dynamic Billard European Pool Championships 2018 in NH Conference Centre Koningshof, Veldhoven, The Netherlands. Several interesting results could be witnessed.
One outstanding match was definitely the encounter between Fedor Gorst (RUS) and Andreas Madsen (DEN). Both players have earned their merits in the junior’s divisions in the previous years. Madsen is 21-years-old, Gorst is 18 years of age these days. The match started out quite promising for Gorst. He had the first break shot and pocketed two balls, having a perfect position for the 2-ball. He played a good safety shot and forced Madsen to commit a foul. Then he ran the balls but missed an easy 6-ball, leaving it all for Madsen. What an unnecessary miss that was! Madsen ran out and took the next three consecutive racks as well, advancing to a 4:0 lead over Gorst. Finally in rack #5, Gorst was able to open his account in the match, getting to 1:4. But Madsen struck back and won another two racks, leading 6:1 now after 7 racks. Having executed the break shot in rack #8, Madsen could play the 2-ball but not pocket it. He played a good safety shot. Gorst was able to play a correct shot and come up with a resafe position. Madsen hit the 2-ball but left a shot for Gorst. The Russian came tot he table and won his second rack, turning the scoreboard to 2:6. The match continued with Gorst committing unbelievably easy mistakes while Madsen was rock solid and focussed on the table. He continued shooting pretty self-confident and consequently won the match with 9:2. Andreas Madsen will advance into the round of the last 64 players single elimination while Gorst awaits the winner of the match Erol Kayas (TUR) v Michel Bartol (CRO) for his chance to be drawn into the single elimination stage as well.
Other remarkable results from today include „The Siberian Express“ Ruslan Chinakhov (RUS) wiping the floor with Miha Zajc (SLO) 9:1. Ralf Souquet (GER) even whitewashed his opponent in the first round, handing Iker-Andoni Echeverria (ESP) a 9:0. Ivar Saris (NED) sent Joshua Filler (GER) to the loser’s side with 9:5 in their opening match. Kasper Kristoffersen (DEN) came up with a bit of a surprise, winning 9:6 over Spain’s #1 David Alcaide. Kim Laaksonen (FIN) won a heartbreaker with 9:8 over favoured Konstantin Stepanov (RUS). Laaksonen’s teammate Jani Siekkinen (FIN) took down newly crowned 8-ball Champion Bahram Lotfy (DEN) with 9:6.
In the girls’ division, two medallists from this week met in the first round of their 9-ball quest for glory. 8-ball Champion Darya Siranchuk (UKR) took it up against 10-ball runner-up Daria Cheprasova (BLR). The match was determined by many mistakes. Especially Cheprasova came up with a lot of positioning errors which Siranchuk was able to capitalise from. In the end, Siranchuk was a deserved 6:3 winner over Cheprasova.
In the women’s division, Line Kjoersvik (NOR) was drawn against Tamara Peeters-Rademakers (NED). The winner of that match would go up against defending Champion Kelly Fisher (GBR). The match was quite even for the first 9 racks. Kjoersvik was up 5:4 with her own break shot coming up. She had a ball down and a tough shot on the 2-ball which she missed. Peeters had the chance to level the match at 5:5. But she missed an extremely easy 2-ball to the corner pocket and gave second live to Kjoersvik in that rack. Both athletes had several more attempts at the table but Peeters always missed one shot too many. Kjoersvik took the rack and went on the hill with 6:4. To make matters worse, Peeters scratched when breaking the balls in rack #11. Kjoersvik got to the table with ball in hand and that sealed the deal for the Norwegian. She finished all balls on the table and won the match with 7:4. Kjoersvik will be up against defending Champion Kelly Fisher (GBR) in the next round.
The seniors’s, ladies’ and U17 division had their first round matches played with no big upsets. In the Under 19 division however, Tin Petljak (CRO) surprisingly managed to defeat Christian Froehlich (GER) by a hair’s breadth with 8:7 in the first round. Another top gun who was put in the loser’s round was Wiktor Zielinski (POL). The stellar talent from Poland had to accept a 7:8 defeat against Ilia Nekleenov (RUS). The only wheelchair match played so far today was Daniel Savic (AUT) winning with 7:4 over Gintas Jonauskas (LTU).
The Dynamic Billard European Pool Championships 2018 will commence tomorrow morning at 10:00 CET with the first matches from the 9-ball individuals competition. The team’s finals are scheduled for 17:00 CET.

Shane Van Boening of South Dakota will meet Dennis Orcollo of the Philippines for the hot seat match of the US Open 8-Ball Championship at 1 p.m. PST July 31.
Van Boening, who won the 2016 US Open 8-Ball & 10-Ball Championships, is hoping to repeat last year’s double dip. His path to the hot seat included wins over Sina Valizadeh, 8-2; Manny Perez, 8-5; Josh Roberts, 8-3; and Lee Vann Corteza, 8-6.
Corteza and Pagulayan join four others in the loser’s bracket, all hoping to grab a place in the finals.
Vinnie Calabrese of Australia has been an impressive talent throughout the tournament. Calabrese posted wins over Hunter Lombardo, 8-7 and Kim Laaksonen, 8-5 before losing to Corteza, 6-8. On the B side of the bracket, he beat: Danny Stone, 8-7; Justin Bergman, 8-6; and Nick Malaj, 8-7. Calabrese will play Denis Grabe of Estonia at 9 a.m.
Grabe has also put a lot of great talent out of the tournament, with wins over: Michael Yednak, 8-7; Francisco Bustamante, 8-7 and Thorsten Hohmann, 8-2, before losing to Alex Pagulayan, 3-8. In the loser’s bracket, he bested Dennis Hatch, 8-6 and now faces Calabrese in the morning. The loser of that match is eliminated and places 5th/6th.
Hohmann “The Hitman” of Germany is also fighting his way through the loser’s bracket. He beat Jesse Bowman, 8-4 in the first round and then was sent to the B side by Grabe, 2-8. Hohmann then beat Oscar Domiguez, 8-7; Kim Laaksonen, 8-4; and Josh Roberts, 8-4. He faces Rodney “The Rocket” Morris at 9 a.m. PST.
Morris, always a crowd favorite, beat Chris Melling, 8-3 and Justin Bergman, 8-6, before losing to Lee Vann Corteza, then he beat Danny Olson to guarantee himself at least 5th/6th and a chance to continue through to the finals.
The 2017 US Open 8-Ball is being held at Griff’s in Las Vegas in conjunction with the 41st BCAPL National Championships, July 19-29 at The Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino. The event featured more than 5,000 amateur players representing 47 states, nine Canadian provinces and 11 countries, competing in approximately 40 divisions, on 300 Diamond pool tables. The annual tournament also includes about 50 exhibitors. Sponsors include Viking, Kamui, Omega Billiards, Cyclop, Diamond, Simonis, and Predator.
In a dramatic winner’s round 1 match at the Dynamic Billard Austrian Open in Alpina Wellness & Sports Hotel, St. Johann i.Pg., Austria, between the two grandmasters Ralf Souquet (GER) and Stephan Cohen (FRA), Cohen remained the upper hand and bested Souquet by a whisker with 9:8.
The first half of the match belonged to Souquet. The German dominated at the table and Cohen struggled to get going. After 13 racks, Souquet was on the hill leading 8:5 over Cohen. At that point in time, the odds for Cohen were close to zero. But Cohen came back. He took some racks an the pressure was on for Souquet. With Souquet being in the lead 8:6, both players went for a time-out. When they got back to the table, it seemed to have worked better for Cohen. The frenchman took the next two racks and turned the match into a hill-hill thriller at 8:8. Rack 17 was won by Cohen who had managed to turn the tide in the match and performed a marvellous comeback in the tournament. With this victory, Cohen marched on into the next winner’s round where he overpowered Kim Laaksonen (FIN) 9:4. Cohen has booked his seat in the winner’s qualification round while Souquet needs to find his fortune on the loser’s side of the event.
#1 ranked player on the Euro-Tour ranking is currently David Alcaide (ESP). The Spaniard needed to do some serious work today. In his first match, he just made it 9:8 over Miguel Silva (POR). The next round was not easier for the #1 player. He encountered Abdullah Al-Youssef (KUW) and needed another 9:8 victory over the full distance to get his foot in the door of the winner’s qualification round.
Silva’s teammate Joao Grilo (POR) was a bit luckier today. He faced local hero Mario He (AUT) in winner’s round 1 and took the Austrian down unexpectedly clear with 9:4.
Today seemed to be not a good or easy day for the top ranked Euro-Tour players. Alcaide won his two matches with 9:5. #2 ranked player Joshua Filler (GER) lost 8:9 to Sergey Lutsker (RUS). „I did not have a break shot at all“, commented Filler after the match, „my break simply wasn’t there. That was the main reason for my defeat“. Also long time ranking leader and current #3, Mark Gray (GBR) could not make it through the winner’s side today. After defeating Piergiovanni Davy (ITA) 9:1, he fell 8:9 to unheralded Mariusz Skoneczny (POL).
Probably the most surprising comeback of the day was performed by dark horse Thomas Fjaeran (NOR). The Norwegian was trailing 1:8 after 30 minutes to Mieszko Fortunski (POL), the winner of the Dynamic Billard Italian Open in February 2016. Things looked over for Fjaeran. But the Scandinavian hung in there and started his amazing comeback. Never looking back, Fjaeran took it step by step and managed to realise the impossible, winning the match with 9:8 over a devastated Mieszko Fortunski!
Today’s feature match which was broadcasted LIVE on the EPBF Facebook page was the clash in winer’s round 2 between Denis Grabe (EST) and Oliver Ortmann (GER). The match went up and down. In the beginning, Ortmann looked like the clear winner, taking a 4:1 lead after five racks. But grabe came back. Additionally, Ortmann’s break shot left him and no wonder Grabe managed to close the gap and even overtake Ortmann, leading 6:4 after the next five racks. However, Ortmann survived that critical phase and found his game back, taking the next racks and getting on the hill at 8:7. Grabe played a safety in rack 16 which was not good enough for Ortmann. The former World Champion from Germany went ahead and cleared the rack, winning the thrilling match with 9:7 over Denis Grabe.
Tomorrow, the Dynamic Billard Austrian Open in Alpina Wellness & Sports Hotel, St. Johann i.Pg., Austria, will continue at 09:00 CET with matches from loser’s round 2.

At the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in the Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal, the Women’s Team from Russia and the Men’s Team from Austria have won the Gold medals in their respective division.
In the men’s division, Team Austria met Team Finland in the final match. The Austrians had ousted the strong Polish Team in their semi-final 2:0 while the Finnish have taken down Team Spain 2:1. The first point for Austria was in the books very quickly. Albin Ouschan won his 9-ball match over Kim Laaksonen 9:2 in just under one hour. That brought Austria the 1:0 lead. Then, Petri Makkonen rode the winning wave over Maximilian Lechner in 10-ball with 8:4. The 8-ball match between Mario He and Jani Uski had to decide. Uski, who just won the title in 8-ball earlier this week, was down 6:7 with Mario He being at the table. The Austrian cleared the table but lined the 8-ball which was lying in a cluster of balls up for a one-rail shot in the side pocket. He missed that shot and Uski got back to the table, cleared it and turned the scoreboard to 7:7. One last 8-ball rack was deciding about fame and glory. Uski had the break shot and perfectly executed it, having some ball down and a nice option to continue. He pocketed all balls of his group except the last one. He fell out of position since he tried to open it up with the shot before but failed to touch the ball at all. So he went for a safety attempt which failed completely. Mario He had one more visit to the table and used it. Cheered up by his teammates Ouschan and Lechner, He cleared the table and pocketed the last winning 8-ball, taking the title for Austria.
Also today in the men’s team competition, disciplinary action was taken against one player. Daniel Kandi (DEN) has over the past week repeatedly misconducted at the table by bashing balls and/or his cue on the table among other things. Said EPBF Sports Director Anamaria Matesic: „We definitely allow players to show emotions and we want to display our sport in all its facets, but we also require a certain level of behaviour. This was broken several times by Mr. Kandi so, after having warned him through a referee on different occasions already, I decided to impose a fine of 500,-€ on him. I hope he will learn from that and in future events will conduct accordingly so we can all work for our common goal to display our sports at its best“.

In the women’s division, the final match was played between Team Spain and Team Russia. After a heartbreaking shootout decision in the semi-final over Team The Netherlands, the Spanish team seemed a bit out of energy. Probably the semi-final took too much out of them. On the other hands, Team Russia sailed into the final match with a nice and clear 2:0 victory over Team Switzerland. In the final, Nataliya Seroshtan finished Mayte Ropero 6:1 in 8-ball while Kristina Tkach left no chance for Amalia Matas and won her 9-ball match 7:5.

The team competition ties the Finnish and the Dutch Team for first place in the medal ranking. They both still have promising players in the 9-ball individuals so it will be interesting to see who will be the overall winning nation tomorrow after the last ball has been pocketed.
Earlier today, a few rounds of 9-ball individuals were played. In the men’s division, the tournament is down to the round of the last 64 players single elimination. Here, Christian Sparrenloev-Fischer (SWE) had a tough fight with defending Champion Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP). The match went hill-hill at 8:8 with Fischer breaking the final rack. He executed a very powerful break and had the 1-ball and the 5-ball pocketed, having a long thin cut on the 2-ball. He went for it, missed it but got extremely lucks since the cue ball hid behind the 7-ball, making it hard for Sanchez to come up with a decent answer. The Spaniard tried to hit the 2-ball rail first and successfully did so. However, the cue ball scratched and that brought Fischer back to the table with ball in hand. Sparrenloev-Fischer used his chance and luckily took the match with 9:8 over Sanchez, advancing to the round of the last 32 players while Sanchez is eliminated out of the 9-ball individuals at the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in the Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal. Also in the round of the last 64 men, Marco Teutscher (NED) ousted the current 9-ball World Champion Albin Ouschan (AUT) quite clearly with 9:4. In an encounter of two very experienced players, Niels „The Terminator“ Feijen (NED) defeated Stephan Cohen (FRA) by a whisker with 9:8. Daniele Corrieri (ITA) ended Mario He’s (AUT) hope for a title in 9-ball this year with a deserved and clear 9:3 result. Joining Mario He in the group of eliminated players is David Alcaide (ESP). His destiny was sealed by Denis Grabe (EST) with 9:7.
In the women’s division, the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes are down to the last 16 players single elimination. Today, the loser’s qualification round was completed. Kristina Tkach (RUS) remained alive in the competition by smashing Monica Margeta (SWE) 7:2. Kelly Fisher (GBR) who surprisingly lost her opening match, has also made it to the last 16 players. She defeated Vania Franco (POR) 7:3. unfortunately for Fisher, she was drawn against Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) in the first single elimination round which will be played tomorrow at 12:00 GMT.
In the wheelchair division, defending Champion Henrik Larsson (SWE) convincingly made his way into the semi-final, taking down Matt Duffy (GBR) 7:1. The other winner’s qualification match in the wheelchair division was fiercely fought over. In the end, Kurt Deklerck (BEL) managed to get the better of Fred Dinsmore (IRL) by taking the match 7:6. This seems not be be Dinsmore’s Championships.

The 8-ball tiles at the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in the Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal, have been awarded. Jouni Tahti (FIN), Jasmin Ouschan (AUT) and Jani Uski (FIN) have snatched the coveted titles in the 8-ball individuals.
In the men’s division, Jani Uski started out as an underdog in the discipline. His victims on the way into the final match include Denis Grabe (EST) 8:5, Francisco Diaz-Pizarro (ESP) 10:6 and Francisco Sanchez-Ruiz (ESP) 10:8. These victories took him into the final match against Marc Bijsterbosch (NED) who had already taken the 10-ball title earlier this week. Bijsterbosch made his way into the final match over Jakub Koniar (SVK) 8:7, Ruslan Chinakhov 10:8 and Mario He (AUT) 10:7. The final match itself was determined by careful play from both actors. Uski however was always a margin up over Bijsterbosch and carried that advantage all through the match. In the end, Uski won his first title in defeating Bijsterbosch 10:7 in the final match.

In the women’s division, Jasmin Ouschan received her 25th Gold Medal on European level and her 50th medal from the EPBF by winning the 8-ball title today. She had a hard time in the semi-final when she just made it over Tamara Peeters-Rademakers (NED) with 7:6. Her opponent in the final match was Melanie Suessenguth (GER). The German had defeated Amalia Matas (ESP) the round before and met Ouschan in the final. However, in the final Suessenguth had no more energy to oppose to Ouschan. 7:0 was the very clear result in favour of the Austrian superstar.
In the wheelchair division, Jouni Tahti was definitely one of the favourite players from the start. Having had a bad start in 10-ball, Tahti was hungry for another title. He met Kurt Deklerck in the final match. Deklerck already won the 10-ball event earlier this week and still had some wind underneath his wings. The final match was packed with action and drama fro both players with Tahti having the better end on his side, winning the match and the title with 5:3 over Deklerck.

Earlier today, two rounds of team competition were played at the Dynamic Billard European Championships for Men, Women and Wheelchair Athletes in the Salgados Palace Hotel in Albufeira, Portugal. In the men’s division, Team Croatia came up with the biggest surprise of the day. The clearly defeated the defending Champion Team Germany with 2:0. Ivica Putnik slammed Ralf Souquet 9:5 in 9-ball while Roberto Bartol just made it over Sebastian Ludwig with 8:7 in 10-ball. The third match between Tomislav Susic and Sebastian Staab in 8-ball was held up at 7:6 for Staab since the Croatians had already won the match being 2:0 up. Another huge surprise was brought to the tournament by Team Finland. They managed to triumph over Team Spain, consisting of Jose Alberto Delgado Hernandez, Francisco Sanchez Ruiz and David Alcaide, with 2:1. In 8-ball, Jani Uski wiped the floor with Francisco Sanchez Ruiz 8:1 while Kim Laaksonen stood tall over David Alcaide in 9-ball with 9:7. At that time, Petri Makkonen was also leading 7:5 over Delgado in 10-ball, race to 8. The team clash between Austria and The Netherlands was won by Team Austria today. Though Niels Feijen defeated Albin Ouschan 8:3 in 10-ball, the Austrians left the venue as the winner today. Mario He overpowered Ivar Saris in 8-ball 8:6 while Maximilian Lechner clearly remained the upper hand over Nick Van Den Berg in 9-ball with 9:5.
In the women’s team competition, Team The Netherlands won 2:0 over Team Finland and Team Spain defeated Team Portugal with the same result.

Kristina Tkach (RUS) and Niels Feijen (NED) have just won the gold medals in the straight pool discipline of the Dynamic Billard European Championships in Albufeira, Portugal.
In the men’s division, „The Terminator“ Niels Feijen played an outstanding tournament. Having won the coveted title in straight pool already 5-times before, Feijen really had an incentive this time. His A-status with the Dutch Olympic Committee and therefore the funding for another year was in danger if he would not have made in into the last eight of the event. After having ousted Stephan Cohen (FRA) 125:3 in the round of the last 32 players, he met the defending Champion Albin Ouschan (AUT) in the next round. Ouschan was a very high obstacle that Feijen needed to overcome in order to get into the round of the last 8. But „The Terminator“ stood tall today and took down Ouschan with 125:88 after a firefly fought match. In the quarter-final, Feijen eliminated Jakub Koniar (SVK) with 125:46 without further problems. Even clearer was Feijen’s victory in the semi-final with Kim Laaksonen (FIN). He ousted the Finish player 125:19 and one could witness Feijen’s hunger to grab his 6th title in straight pool growing strong. In the final match, Feijen met Tomasz Kaplan (POL) who has also earned his merits in the past in straight pool. Today, Feijen was too strong for Kaplan. The Dutch turned the final match into a one man show and after one hour and ten minutes, „The Terminator“ sank the final ball for a 125:13 victory over Kaplan, having used only four innings to claim the victory.
In the women’s competition, Kristina Tkach was up against the Austrian title defender, Jasmin Ouschan (AUT). Tkach’s way into the final looked quite impressive. In the round of the last 16 players she bested Marharyta Fefilava (BLR) 75:4. Then she marched on and triumphed clearly over Amalia Matas (ESP) 75:15. In the semi-final match, Tkach got the better of her teammate Nataliya Seroshtan (RUS) and remained the upper hand with 75:57. In the final match of course, Jasmin Ouschan was awaiting her. The Austrian title defender started furiously and took a 39:-2 lead over Tkach. But the young Russian remained cool as ice and played her game whenever Ouschan allowed her to do so. And she got more chances than expected. Ouschan committed several serious and avoidable mistakes. Leading 61:45, Tkach missed the break ball and Ouschan got back to an open table. The audience and Ouschan were shocked when the Austrian missed the first clear and easy shot! Tkach thanked her in her own way by running the rack and pocketing the remaining 14 balls in order to win the match and the title 75:45. It’s Tkach’s second title in the women’s division after having won the 8-ball in St. Johann i.Pg, Austria last year.
