As Gorst got older, he had different coaches, and when he was 10 years old, one of them suggested that he try pool instead. Following his transition to pool, Gorst competed in several amateur tournaments and junior competitions in Moscow. He was just 12 years old when he won his first junior competition. By the time he was 14, he had already made it onto the Russian national pool team. 

After his father’s demise, he found inspiration in Mike Nikolaev, a semi-professional pool player. Mike supported Fedor Gorst in competing. Indeed, Mike Nikolai had a significant role in laying the groundwork for Gorst’s successful career as a pool player.

  • In 2017, he won the junior title by claiming victory over Mongolia’s Temuujin Enkhbold in the championship match.
  • In 2019, he won the world champion title by claiming a 13–11 victory over Chang Jung-lin in the championship match.

Euro Tour Series Winner

  • In 2018, he won the Euro Tour Series at the Treviso Open, one of his first major titles. At the time, he was only 18 years old.

European Pool Championship

  • In 2019, Gorst won the 9-ball competition after claiming victory over Joshua Filler in the championship match.
  • In 2021, he became champion of the 14.1 Straight Pool competition after claiming victory against Marc Bijsterbosch in the championship match. In addition, Gorst finished in second place in the 8-ball competition.

Mosconi Cup 

  • Gorst was barely 20 when he competed in his first Mosconi Cup. Team Europe won that year, making Gorst one of the youngest winners in the event’s history.
