The Players Ready themselves for Battle in Fujairah

Max Eberle

Standby for live daily reports from Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates and follow all the action as the 64 best players from all over the world make their challenge for the title of the WPA Damas World 8 Ball Championship and a share of the 110,000 pound prize money.

"Mad" Max Eberle from California says he prefers to play 8 Ball, "because there's more strategy? In 8 Ball you've got to have a game plan, but you can change your strategy after every shot".

Mexico's Ernesto Dominguez hasn't been practicing much, but says, "There are no favourites here for me, everyone is dangerous, and everyone is easy - if you make the balls you win". A sharp contrast to his countryman Ismael Paez who says, "I practice all the time" but only time will tell who's strategy prevails.

Elmer Hoya, one of the twelve U.A.E. qualifiers mentions that the quality of the field is stratospherically high this year, "it is much harder than before, so many (former) World Champions" and was also concerned about the talented, "young players with such good eyes".

Raj Hundal from England, replacing Ronnie O'Sullivan as predicted, is probably one of those talented young players. Still flushed with the success of winning the prestigious World Pool Masters he said, "That's something I've been dreaming of all my life" and has just reported a run of nine consecutive racks of 8 Ball in practice.
