Top 9-ball players do battle at Olympic Oval

Calgary AB -- SML Entertainment is pleased to announce that 120 pool players will compete for $35,000 in total prize money at the five-day SML Entertainment 9-Ball championship that gets underway at Calgary's Olympic Oval Tuesday, April 19.

"We are very pleased to have so many top ranked 9-ball players compete in our event," says Dean Fisher, Marketing Director, SML Entertainment. "With so many great players here, it's going to be a battle for a winner to emerge and claim the $10,000 in top prize money."

Fisher also noted that for the first time there is $1,000 prize being awarded by Stix Billiards for the top finishing Calgary-based 9-ball player.

Competition begins at noon Tuesday April 19 and runs until a champion is declared Saturday April 23. The winner pockets $10,000.

"One of the favourites, current World 9-Ball Champion Alex Pagulayan (Toronto, Ontario) will have his hands full with competitors such as Johnny Archer (Waycross, Georgia), Corey Deuel (West Jefferson, Ohio), Earl "The Pearl" Strickland (Greensboro, North Carolina) and Luc Salvas (Montreal, Quebec)," says Fisher. All games are being played on 12 new Metro tables (nine-foot) from Brunswick Billiards.
