US Bar Table Championship Underway

The 17th annual United States Bar Table Championships is underway at the Sands Regency Hotel in Reno, Nevada.  After day two of 10 ball tournament action, 14 year old Brendan Crockett stood as the one to watch as he, after only 2 years playing the game, beat such notable players as Tyler Edey of Canada, and Bernardo “King Kong” Chavez, who is known for his strong bar table play in the Los Angeles area.  Crockett finally fell to the loser's side at the hands of Thorsten Hohmann, and then failed to get off the hill against Brian Butler. Butler had previously beaten Texas one pocket favorite Sylver Ochoa and Mark Haddad of Colorado.

As day two came to a close, the original 115 entrants were whittled down to a final four.  Even in a short race to 7, the usual final bracket contenders were all present – Oscar Dominguez, Jose Parica, Shane Van Boening, Glenn Atwell and Sal Butera were just a few of the strong top 16 that made it over from their respective brackets.  In the end, just four are left vying for the 6,000 added prize fund before the Open and Women's 9 ball event starts tomorrow.  Sal Butera and Glenn Atwell will face off to see who will play Jose Parica, who is currently guaranteed third place, and then the winner of that would meet up with Shane Van Boening in the final.

OB Cues sponsors The Action Report's live stream.  Tune in to theactionreport.com tomorrow starting at 1pm PST to see if Glenn Atwell will make another finals appearance this year, or if we'll see a rematch of this year's Jay Swanson Memorial event between Sal Butera and Jose Parica to get to the finals against Shane Van Boening.
