Windy City Open boasts record crowds

A record crowd at the Windy City Open

The 2006 Windy City Open is off to a huge start with standing room only crowds as far as the eye can see.

Wednesday, the bank tournament had 22 players with Marco Marquez and Neil Jacobs splitting the $500.00 first price and Jeanette Lee at a cool 3rd with $200 in prize money. Ike Runnels savored a 4th Place finish.

16 women participated in Women's 9 Ball Event. 1st Place went to Mary Costello $680, Amy Latzko took 2nd at $430, Jessie James $200 and Angie Voorhees $200.

The open 9 Ball tournament was fused with energy with such top players as Jeff Beckley, Shane Van Boening, Nick Tafoya, Neil Jacobs, Adam Smith, Gil Hernandez and Tom McCluskey with a grand finish from Tom McCluskey winning $1,680, Gil Hernandez $1,210 and Jeff Beckley $840.

Action was non-stop all day, over 600 players and spectators were in attendance; Jeanette Lee had endless challenge matches and crowds of spectators swarmed throughout the day.

Saturday continues matches with teams and singles vying for the grand prizes. With a sold out hotel, this 4th year Windy City Open is one of the best to date.
