World Champion Takes a Loss at Yalin World Championship

Yu Ram Cha of Korea was the first woman to end Fisher's long win streak.

Manila, Philippines-  Defending World 10-Ball Champion Kelly Fisher was finally beaten a match. Last year she went undefeated in the round robin and went on to win the tournament, and adding with a first round win over Japan's Noriko Onoda this year, it brought her to exactly 10 consecutive match wins in Manila. But Korea's Yu Ram Cha finally took the World Champ to the test with a 6-5 win. Of course, Fisher still has many more matches to play. A total of 9 World Champions are attending this year's event with three of them having a title in this event which are Rubilen Amit (2009), Jasmin Ouschan (2010), and Kelly Fisher (2011).

This is the biggest women's sporting event of the year in the Philippines, with the host country featuring the best players from Italy, Japan, China, Canada, Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, Russia, South Africa, India, Iran, Netherlands, Sweden, Venezuela, England, Norway, Taiwan, Austria, and Singapore.

"Neither of us played really well in the match. But she was solid and got me in the end.  But I love this World Championship because it's a round robin, so you play five matches. It's the best format", commented Fisher. Fisher went on to win her next matches which still puts her in good shape to make it to the next round.

"She missed many balls after she led me 4-1. But I am happy to get the win", said Cha. Yu Ran went on to win her next two matches including ousting 13 year old sensation Cheska Centeno who has become the darling of the World Championship. Cha looks prime to win Group 1 and get the bye for the next round.
