February 28, 2024, the WPA is excited to announce that it will treat the following tournaments as WPA sanctioned events:
• Premier League Pool
• World Pool Masters
• U.K. Open Pool Championship
• World Cup of Pool
• European Open Pool Championship
• U.S. Open Pool Championship
• Mosconi Cup
What this means for all athletes regarding the WPA’s decision to take effect on 1st March; no athlete will face any penalty from the WPA or its members for participating in all these sanctioned tournaments.
In addition to these events, the World 9-Ball Pool Championships scheduled for Saudi Arabia for the next 10 years will also continue to be sanctioned by the WPA. And we are delighted that Matchroom has made this a million-dollar tournament!
The WPA is prepared to sanction further Matchroom tournaments on application by Matchroom and we will continue to work with them to ensure that this happens.
