World Pool Championship Update

Manila, Philippines - Matchroom Sport and Raya Sports jointly unveiled in London and Manila this weekend the new logo design for the 2007 World Pool Championship that will be held in the Philippines on November 3-11 this year. The new logo combines two motifs: the 9 ball in the most popular pool game and the tricolor of the Philippine flag. It was designed by Leonardo Mura of Milan, Italy.

The logo comes in two formats: a design on normal format for white and light backgrounds, and a reversed format for dark backgrounds. Both formats are striking.

Yen Makabenta of Raya Sports welcomed the design as fresh, colorful and vivid. "It does justice to both the event and the host country. The two formats – normal and reversed – reproduce well on the printed page and online. They will help us in promoting the 2007 WPC."

For his part, Luke Riches, media director of Matchroom Sport, declared, "We at Matchroom Sport are all very pleased with the design. The normal format is bright and bold and has movement in it. The reversed version is very sleek and impressive."

The WPC will be staged for the second time in the Philippines. This year's edition will be the 19th in the prestigious tournament's history
