Mike Masgay Wins All American Tour Stop 11

The eleventh stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) featured a $500-added purse and thirty-six players, and was hosted by owner Dale Elliott and tourney director Jon Kent at Dale's Weston Lanes in Weston, WI, on Saturday, January 6. The event included double-elimination 8-ball on 7-foot bar boxes, and Mike Masgay of Schofield, Wisconsin marched undefeated to the finals. Masgay out shot Tim Schotz (Rothschild, WI) 6-4, while Mark Hutchison (Nekoosa, WI) clipped Mat Strong (Antigo, WI) 6-5 in the A-side semi-finals. Masgay then coasted by Hutchison in the A-side finals 6-1 to take the hot seat. Matches in the B-side bracket leading up to the tourney finals included Tim Ruenger (Appleton, WI) stopping Mat Strong at 5th place by a 6-1 margin and Tim Schotz eliminating Kevin Klages (Antigo, WI) 6-4, tying Strong with Klages. Ruenger, a first-round loser) built up his momentum by ousting Schotz 6-3 and Hutchison 6-2 and gaining a title shot at Masgay. In the first set of the finals, Masgay continued his mastery over the field with a 6-4 victory over Ruenger for the title!

By virtue of seventh-place Kendall “Beko” Eggert being the highest-finishing ACS member, he qualified for a free singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. Lassiter's in Clinton, Iowa, is also gearing up to host a $5,000-added handicapped 8-Ball event on the weekend of Jan. 26-28, 2007, with both men's and women's divisions.
