Huang wins NWPA Opener

Hsin Huang has now won 6 of the last 7 NWPA events

The Northwest Women's Pool Association opened their new season with a $750 added event at Let's Play Billiards in Forest Grove, OR with a field of 34 players.

It may have been a new season of play, but Hsin Huang made it clear that she planned on dominating this season just like she did last season. Huang won five of six stops last season and she went undefeated in Forest Grove to capture the hot seat with a 7-2 win over Kim Gates. The five games that Katherine Czarkowski won against Huang was the most allowed all weekend.

Gates lost on the one-loss side to former touring pro Kerry Impson (formerly Kerry Hartsfield), to set up the final match between Impson and Huang for the title. Huang jumped to an early lead in the final set and then fought off a run by Impson for the 9-4 win and first place in the tournament.

Huang won $560 for first place, while Impson pocketed $350 for second. Gates and Martha Hartsell filled out the top four spots.

The NWPA Tour will be at Dr. Cue Billiards in Shoreline, WA on March 20th - 21st for their next event.
