WPA Announces Sanction of U.S. Open

The WPA is delighted to announce that it will once again sanction the US’s most prestigious event, the U.S. Open. There have been a few changes for this year, one change is limiting the field to 128. Prize money has increased and will be $200,000. Entry fee is $1,000 and the balance of the prize fund comes from $75,000 in added money. In conjunction with this, the status of the event has been raised where players taking part will earn a higher level of world ranking points for their participation.

This is the 39th consecutive year this tournament has been played, far and away the longest running event ever in the USA. As last year, the event will be held at the Marriott Hotel in Chesapeake, Virginia.
