Berrong and Ussery turn in Brass Rail wins

With Tommy Kennedy's SE Open 9-Ball Tour scheduled for a stop this weekend at Murphy's Brass Rail in Athens Georgia, the players were given two opportunities to compete. Both the SE Open event and the regularly scheduled rapid fire 9-ball event took place side by side.

Ron Park came out of the SE Open event in the hot-seat, after a 9-5 win over Bruce Berrong. Berrong eliminated Brian White on the left side of the board though, to earn the rematch with Park in the finals.

The final match was a tight one, with neither player able to string racks and take much of a lead. The turning point of the match came with the score tied at 9-9 when Park missed a 4-ball and allowed Berrong to get to the hill at 10-9. Berrong went on to win the next game and scored the 11-9 win for first place.

In the Rapid Fire 9-Ball event, BJ Ussery defeated Mike Staubes in the finals for the win.

Berrong collected $700 for winning the SE Open event, while Ussery took home $225 for winning the rapid fire event. Another finisher of note was WPBA touring pro Melissa Herndon, who took 5th place in the SE Open event and earned $145.

The SE Open Tour will be at Victory Billiards in West Palm Beach, FL on July 23rd - 24th for their next stop. The Rapid Fire 9-Ball event will be at Murphys Brass Rail on August 7th.
