Canadians Show They Play More Than Eight Ball

The 13th annual Andy Mercer Memorial Tournament was held March 20-23 at the Rum Runner in Las Vegas, Nevada. This year's champion was Nicholas Kruger from Lethbridge Alberta Canada. He defeated Arizona Senior 9-Ball Champion Tom Dilorenzo in the second set of the finals. In third place was Edwin Montal who also hails from Lethbridge Alberta. Hosts Geno and Gordie Hill and the staff of the Rum Runner continue to promote one of the premiere regional events of the southwest.

With $10,600 in prize money and over $14,000 in calcutta, it is no wonder the best players from all over the west and Canada show up each year to claim their share. Race to 6 on the bar tables made for plenty of upsets and some of the early favorites found themselves on the sidelines. In the end it was Kruger from Canada who took down the $3,500 dollar prize.
