Dustin Coe
It had been a while. A month shy of two years ago to be precise, since Dustin Coe had stepped into the winners’ circle at a Princeton, WV stop on the PremierBilliards.com’s Q City 9-Ball Tour. He’d been defeated in the hot seat match and then won three straight, double-hill matches in a row, the semifinal and two sets of a true double-elimination final to claim that title. This past weekend (Sat., March 30) wasn’t anywhere near as dramatic for Coe, as he went undefeated through five opponents at a $250-added event that drew a short field of 16 entrants to a new venue for the tour, Breaking Tradition in Kingsport, TN.
Earning himself a secondary spotlight for his runner-up finish, Daniel Adams, fresh off of a victory on the Tiger Pool Tour in Virginia the week before (March 23), lost his opening match and won six straight on the loss side for the right to face Coe in the final. Coe stopped his winning streak in the finals to claim the title.
Coe opened his undefeated run with a shutout over Luke Lewis, won two straight 7-2 matches over Heath Marcum and, in one of the winners’ side semifinals, Dustin Brown. Matt Shaw, in the meantime, got by Michael Rodgers (1), Eric Summers (3) and in the other winners’ side semifinal, Michael Bramlett (2) to join Coe in the hot seat match. Coe claimed the seat 7-5 over Shaw.
Three matches into his long, loss-side streak that had recently eliminated Eric Summers and Travis Guerra, both 7-3, Adams drew Brown. Michael Bramlett drew his wife, Bree. They might have met in the event’s second round had Justin Harris not shut Bree out in that opening match, sending her off on a four-match, loss-side winning streak. She started her loss-side run with a double-hill victory over Andy Ashburn before downing room owner Robert Brentz 4-2 and with three ‘beads on the wire’ that she didn’t end up needing in a race to 7, Heath Marcum 4-2.
Bree Bramlett won her second, double-hill match, sending her husband home (so to speak), while she advanced to the quarterfinals. Adams joined her after defeating Brown 7-1. Bree Bramlett’s loss-side run came to an end in those quarterfinals. Adams shut her out, but she went home (so to speak) with the first-money-round cash.
Adams then downed Shaw in the subsequent semifinals 7-4 to earn a second, possibly necessary third shot at Coe. Not necessary, as it turned out. Coe claimed the event title with a single-set, 7-5 win over Adams.

The next stop on the PremierBilliards.com’s Q City 9-Ball Tour, scheduled for this coming weekend (April 6-7), will be a $500-added event, hosted by Action Billiards in Inman, SC.
