Fisher avoids early round Vegas upset

Xiao-Ting Pan came up one game short against Allison Fisher

Day three at the 9-Ball Championship is complete and we have our first batch of players eliminated from the event.

In the men's division, Jeremy Jones lost a hill-hill heartbreaker to Joey Korsiak to be eliminated early Tuesday and Mika Immonen joined Jones in the bleachers later Tuesday after an 11-7 loss to Thomas Engert.

The ladies division saw Ga-Young Kim eliminated early Tuesday by California's Stacy Hurst. Later matches on Tuesday saw Ewa Laurance, Val Finnie and Katrine Jensen also eliminated.

Defending champions Thorsten Hohmann and Allison Fisher remain unbeaten, but that looked to be in danger on Tuesday for Fisher. Xiao-Ting Pan took Fisher to hill-hill and looked to have the match in hand after winning a safety battle, but a jarred 4-ball turned out to the difference as Pan was unable to put the final game away and Fisher ran out for the win. Fisher will face Jennifer Chen on Wednesday.

Complete brackets for both events are posted and will be updated all week.
