Frost puts the Freeze on Dave’s Heat Wave

Scott Frost

Things looked good for AZ's Scott Frost on Saturday afternoon with a first round bye in the 105-player field at the Pechauer West Coast tour's Pokertropolis.com stop hosted by Hard Times Billiards in Bellflower, CA. He stubbed his toe in the second round against Chip Kine and was forced to take the detour route to the finals.

Dave "The Wave" Hemmah, the house pro at Hard Times has been playing red hot with wins in March at the BCA Qualifier stop (where he won a spot into this year's BCA Men's Open in May) as well as a win at the 98-player field Pokertropolis.com stop at the California Billiard Club March 13-14. Hemmah charged through the winner's bracket with formidable wins and solid play over Parica in the quarterfinals and Eberle in the hot seat.

Frost iced over the entire loser's bracket laying waste to Amar Kang, Lorry DeLeon, and Max Eberle, among many others (a total of some 11 straight competitors), to earn his spot in the single race to 13 finals against Hemmah. The final match went back and forth, but Frost outmanuevred Hemmah in a few different games which made all the difference in the world. Hemmah had the crowd on his side while the charismatic Frost had to keep the energy level high by teasing the crowd for not applauding after his own wins! With a final score of 13-8, Frost exclaimed "I never thought I would win it, I can't believe I made it!" He seemed to photograph well with the big check and is hoping that the Pechauer Tour will migrate a little eastward for a possible stop in Phoenix. He says he has plans to make upcoming stops! We greatly appreciated the support and courtesy of the players, the tour keeps growing and getting more and more fun!

And congratulations are in order for Dave Hemmah whose high finish at this stop earned him the lead in tour points, he has been consistently gaining on Potier who originally seemed to have a lock on the lead. The next stop is in Renton at Sunset Family Billiards which is in Potier's neck of the woods, we'll have to see if he shows. We hope to see you there - Sunset will be a Reno Open Qualifier which means the winner will have a paid entry into the Sands tournament this June.
