Marshall Jung Wins Stop #6 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series

Stop #6 of the Mezz LA 9 Ball Series opened up to a tough field of SoCal pool players, with Marshall Jung (699) taking down his first tournament win in the series! Marshall defeated David Butler (658) hill-hill to capture the hot seat, and met again in the final. Both players decided to split the winnings, with Marshall taking the title and the points for first place (points cannot be split).

Marshall started his run through the field against Trinh Lu (549), followed by wins against Francis Lanag (613), Alfred Martinez (610) and Jerry Lazzareschi (638), before defeating David Butler in a close match to capture the hot seat.

David had a strong showing this event as well, defeating Jeffrey Jamerson (531), Doug Byrd (578), Rhino Lay (614), and Bob Ohashi (613) before being sent to the one-loss side by Marshall, where he defeated Jerry Lazzareschi to secure a split with Marshall to end the night early.

Several new players have joined the series: Bob Ohashi, Neeraj “Raj” Vaidya, Doug Byrd, Jerry Lazzareschi, Trinh Lu, Raul Flores, and James Gonzalez. New members are joining weekly and the member base is now over 120 players! We are now at the halfway point in the series, with 5 more regular season monthly tournaments for players to put up points, along with 2 Weeklies tournaments. There is still plenty of time to get on the Leaderboard and qualify in the Top 32 or 64.

Stop #7 is Sunday July 2nd, and will go on sale online June 11th at 9am PST. Note that entries will be sold online only.

Lastly, there are now 2 Weeklies tournaments that you can play in on a weekly basis to get those points in! Thursday nights at Gladi8or Pizza and Billiards, and Saturday nights at Good Times Billiards. These events pay out less in cash and points, but are a great way to boost your standings on the Leaderboard!
