Mike Hughes wins in Sioux Falls

The nineteenth stop on the 2010-2011 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) moved back to Sioux Falls, SD, on Saturday, December 3, at JJ's Billiards.  The $500 added event featured thirty-three players in a double-elimination 8-ball format on 7-foot bar boxes. Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota players were all in attendance.  All skill levels from a 3 to a 7 on a regional handicap system used were represented in the race-to-7 format.  The final eight was represented  by four 7's, two 6's and two 5's.  Meeting on the hill in the winner's bracket were Steve Smith [5] (Sioux Falls, SD) and Mike Hughes [7] (Sioux Falls, SD). Hughes came out on top in that match as with all his matches.  With a devastating break, smart play, execution and a few good rolls, Mike rolled through the field to capture the $500 first prize.  Steve Smith captured the B-side finals by ousting Rob Waterbury (Sioux Falls, SD) but again Mike Hughes prevailed in the Finals by a 7-4 margin.

The players thanked Gary Kludt for hosting the event and great play and fun was had by all.  The Tour features two stops on Saturday, December 11: 1). a $500-added 8-ball stop at Legend's Sports Bar in Clinton, IA (contact Dave Holmes at 563-243-4266); and 2) a $500-added 8-ball stop at Sharky's Billiards in Sedalia, MO (contact Steve Allee at 660-826-5855).  Further information, entry details and schedules for the 2010/2011 Lucasi Hybrid All American Tour are available at www.americancuesports.org.
