The Midwest Expo is in full swing at The Pheasant Run Resort outside Chicago Il.
On Thursday night, Sam Kirby defeated Dan Lavoie in the finals to win the single elimination Bank Pool event. Kirby won $750 for first place, while Lavoie settled for $350. Fred Bentavega and Scott Cohen finished tied for third and won $150 each.
The One Pocket event ended on Friday night with reigning US Open Champion Gabe Owen completing an undefeated run through the field and scoring back to back wins over Cliff Joyner to take first place. Owen scored wins over Grady Mathews, Bruce Perry, Glen Rogers, Nick Varner and Joyner on his way to the win. First place was worth $3000 to Owen, while Joyner settled for $1500. Varner and Shannon Daulton filled out the top four spots.
The Amateur 9-Ball events ended on Friday with Tom McCluskey beating Jesse Bowman in the finals of the 160 player open division for a $1200 payday. The Seniors division was won by Willie Munson who defeated John Brannon in the finals. Munson won $500, while Brannon took home $350. Southeast Cues Nat Green won $160 for third. In the ladies 9-ball division, Bonnie Plowman defeated Andrea Wilson in the finals and won $600 along with a trip for two to the Bahamas. Wilson pocketed $435 for second and Julia Gabriel took home $270 for third.
The Pro 9-Ball event got started on Friday with 16 players including Owen, Earl Strickland, Rodney Morris, Corey Deuel and Larry Nevel amongst the competitors.
The amateur 8-ball events got started Friday night with big fields. The ladies division has 75 players and the open division has a whopping 251 players competing.
