South moves in Patriot Cup lead

Nick Varner helped Team South to a lead

The South Team is starting to pull away from the North Team at the 2003 Patriot Cup event.

The North Team had come back to tie the score at 3-3 just before the afternoon break, but the South Team took the lead back when the team of Nick Varner & Tommy Kennedy defeated Corey Deuel & Tony Robles 4-2 in Scotch Doubles.

The next event was one-on-one 9-ball, and Nick Varner defeated Corey Deuel 5-1 to give the South Team a 5-3 lead.

The break content went to sudden death before Charlie Williams defeated Rodney Morris 1-0 to move the South Team into a 6-3 lead.

Five-on-five scotch doubles and one-pocket are the only remaining events on Saturday, and the South Team now knows they will have the lead at the end of Day one.
