Sportsnet New York Plays Pool

SportsNet New York (SNY), the television home of the New York Mets and New York Jets, has reached an agreement with Billiard Club network (BCn), to broadcast Billiard Club TV (BCtv), professional pool's longest running, weekly, syndicated TV show. SNY will premier its billiards broadcast schedule with the 2005 US Open 9-Ball Championship series beginning June 2nd at 4 PM ET, and continue with 15 more one-hour programs throughout June. SNY will follow the U.S. Open 9-Ball with BCn programs from the Derby City Classic and other high profile international pool tournaments distributed by BCn. SNY has also agreed to air the 2006 U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship series when it becomes available later in the year.

“BCtv is a great addition to our program line-up”, said Gary Morganstern, SNY Program Director. “There's a great number of pool fans in our broadcast region and BCtv will play very well to our entire audience.”

SNY is available to viewers in New York, Connecticut, most of New Jersey and northeastern Pennsylvania. Viewers outside the SportsNet New York broadcast region can also watch SNY on Dish Network channel 438 and DirecTV channel 625.

“We're very excited to be airing in the SportsNet New York broadcast region,” says Rob Sykora, president BCn. “We look forward to providing SNY viewers with the best that professional pool has to offer. And, we're happy for our sponsors, who will continue to reap the benefits of supporting the US Open 9-Ball and the Derby City Classic.”

SNY joins other Comcast Sports Networks that air BCtv weekly, including Comcast SportsNet Chicago, Comcast SportsNet West (Sacramento) and Comcast Local (Detroit). Other BCn affiliates include Altitude Sports & Entertainment broadcasting out of Denver to the Rocky Mountain region and Cox Sports TV in New Orleans reaching the Gulf South region.
