With six of the first eight matches complete, the World Pool Masters has seen a shocking three upsets already.

In possibly the biggest upset, relatively unknown Czech sharpshooter Roman Hybler ended Marlon Manalo's event with a dominating 8-2 decision. Hybler never trailed in the match, and led 3-0 before Manalo was able to notch his first game win. It was 6-1 before Manalo would earn another game. Hybler commented after the match, "I'm pleased with how I played. I took advantage of Marlon's mistakes and the run outs built my confidence. I like playing in this type of environment and I'm looking forward to Sunday's quarter."

Saturday play has produced two upsets with England's Raj Hundal beating Niels Feijen 8-2 and Holland's Alex Lely eliminating Mika Immonen 8-6.

Other players winning their first round matches were Thomas Engert, Chia-Ching Wu and Rodney Morris.
