“Volcano” Alcano Wins Star Billiards 10-Ball; Pockets P100,000 Prize Money

MANILA---RONATO "Volcano" Alcano turned back Antonio "Nickoy" Lining, 13-6, in the finals to rule the November edition of Star Billiards 10-Ball Championships at the famous Star Billiards Center, No.46 Joy Street in Grace Village, Quezon City over the weekend.

"Winning a tournament wherein you have to compete against some of the country's best players is a very big accomplishment, and I'm very happy for this win," said the Lanky cue artists Alcano, top player of Perry Mariano's Bugsy Promotions.

On the road to the finals, Alcano outclassed Jundel Mason, 11-8, in the semi-final round while Lining needed to beat power-breaker Jeffrey "The Bull" de Luna, 11-9, in other final four affair.

With the feat, Alcano received P100,000 prize money, Lining pocketed runner-up purse P50,000 while losing semi-finalists de luna and Mason went home P 15,000 each in the event hosted and sponsored by long-time billiards patron Sebastian "Baste" Chua, organized by Joyren Ting among others.

Fifth to eight placers for P5,000 each are Carlo Biado, Jundel Mason, Demosthenes Pulpul and Leonardo Hipolito.

It was Alcano's second major title this years since winning the 2010 Sangsom Pattaya 9-Ball Invitational Pool Competition at the Royal Garden Plaza in Pattaya, Thailand  last month.
