After one day of play at the Women's World 9-Ball Championship in Shenyang China, there are already a couple surprises.

Possibly the biggest surprise on day one was the early eliminations of both Akimi Kajitani and Yu Ram Cha. Cha lost to both Ho Yun Tan from Taipei and Chihiro Kawahara from Japan. Kajitani lost to the USA's Angel Paglia and Neslihan Gurel from Turkey.

Players who find themselves with their futures uncertain on the one loss side include Jasmin Ouschan, Karen Corr, Chieh-Yu Chou, Xiao Ting Pan, Rubilen Amit, Brittany Bryant, Gerda Hofstetter and Iris Ranola.

Players who have already punched their ticket for the single elimination stage of the event include Allison Fisher, Kelly Fisher, Sarah Rousey, Xue Chen and Dou Dou Zhou.

Defending Champion Sha Sha Liu leads the group of players who have won their only matches. Other players who are unbeaten and looking for a spot in the single elim stage include Ga Young Kim, Vivian Villareal, Monica Webb, Julie Kelly, Angel Paglia, Shu Han Chang and Shin Mei Liu.
