Day one is complete at the Enjoypool.com 9-Ball Championship with relatively few upsets to speak of.
The men's division saw match wins by such notables Johnny Archer, Tony Robles, Po-Cheng Kuo, Jose Parica, Ralf Souquet, Earl Strickland, Corey Deuel, Dennis Orcollo and Efren Reyes. Reyes might have come out on top in his match against local favorite Lou Butera, but it wasn't without a fight. Reyes came out with a quick lead, but Butera fought back much to the delight of his home crowd. Every game win by Butera was met with an outburst of 'Lou' shouts from the crowd. In the end, Reyes came out on top by the score of 11-9 but it was Butera that received a standing ovation from his home crowd.
The women's division saw wins by notables including Allison Fisher, Jeanette Lee, Xiao-Ting Pan, Tiffany Nelson, Wendy Jans, Jennifer Chen, Kelly Fisher, Shin-Mei Liu, Vivian Villarreal and Helena Thornfeldt.
Matches on Monday will include Ga-Young Kim vs Jasmin Ouschan, Gabe Owen vs Max Eberle and Pei-Wei Chang vs David Matlock.
