Fisher Crowned Winner at Hunter Classics Tour

Kelly Fisher & Miyuki Sakai

Legend's Billiards and Grill in Brenham, TX hosted the 6th stop of 2004 for the ladies of the Hunter Classics Amateur Women's Tour. On Sunday, only 8 players were left, out of 36, to fight for the coveted win. On the winner's side, Rachel Hurst defeated Tara McCracken 7-5 while Kelly Fisher sent travel mate Miyuki Sakai to the one-loss side 7-2. Kelly and Rachel then squared off for the winner's bracket final with Kelly winning 7-2.

Melinda Bailey was defeated by Tara 7-4 while Miyuki defeated Heather Pulford 7-3. Melinda and Heather placed 5th/6th and earned $150 each. Tara and Miyuki then played each other for the 4th place spot, with Miyuki prevailing 7-5. This set up the 3rd place match - Miyuki and Rachel swapped games until it was tied at 5-5, then Miyuki pulled ahead for the 7-5 win, earning Miyuki another shot against Kelly. However, Kelly had other things on her mind as she never looked back as she defeated Miyuki 7-4 in the finals to win the first place prize of $750 and the WPBA Qualifier to a WPBA 2005 event. Kelly had an entire tournament of lop sided scores - the highest number of games anyone could get against her was 4, and that was done only twice - by Miyuki in the finals and Val Finnie, Kelly's roommate, early in the tournament. Miyuki earned $560 for second place, Rachel earned $400 for 3rd place, and Tara earned $270 for 4th place.

A BIG thanks to Wes Hunter (Hunter Classics Custom Cues), who has been sponsoring this tour for over 11 years!
