McCreesh and Haacke win Planet Pool Stop

The Planet Pool Tour held the third stop of their 2004 season this weekend at Bill & Billies Cues Port in Arnold, MD with a field of 111 players.

Ryan McCreesh from Frederick, MD made his way through the field undefeated and beat Brett Stottlemyer 9-5 for the hotseat. While this was happening, Matt Krah was being eliminated by Mike David 7-6 on the left side of the brackets.

After the loss to McCreesh, Stottlemyer took the trip to the left side of the board and sent Davis to the bleachers with a 7-4 victory. This earned Stottlemyer another shot at McCreesh in the finals.

In the end, Stottlemyer was only able to win one more game than the first time they played and list to McCreesh 9-6.

McCreesh collected $1500 for first, while Stottlemyer settled for $850. Davis and Krah filled out the top four spots and won $550 and $400. Another finished of interest was Sueyen Rhee, who took a break from dominating the women's division. She played in the open division and finished in 13th place.

With Rhee playing in the open division, the women's division was open to a new winner and Malea Haacke from Perry Hall, MD rose to the occasion. Haacke defeated Kathy Friend 7-2 for the hot-seat and then defeated Amanda Smith 7-2 in the finals.

Haacke pocketed $425 for first, and Smith took home $280 for second. Friend and Gwen Dickert filled out the top four spots.

The next event on the Planet-Pool Tour schedule has been moved to April 3rd and 4th at Champions Billiards Cafe in Laurel, MD. The stop was originally schedule for April 10th - 11th.
