Middlebrook goes undefeated on Simonis Cloth Classic Tour

Helena Thornfeldt and Monica Webb played host to the 6th stop on the Simonis Cloth Classic Tour on the weekend of April 6-7. The $1,000-added event drew 48 entrants to their room, Stix Billiards in Villa Rica, GA. Jesse Middlebrook stopped a four-match, loss-side winning streak by Randy Jordan to go undefeated and claim the $1,000-added event title, which drew 48 entrants to Stix Billiards.

Middlebrook and Jordan met twice and battled to double hill both times. First, among the winners' side final four with Middlebrook prevailing, as Jeff Hooks was busy with Aaron Frady, sending him west 9-7. Middlebrook downed Frady in the battle for the hot seat 9-7 and waited there for the return of Jordan.

Jordan moved over to pick up Jamie Lowery, who'd survived a double hill match against Adam Towery and defeated Humberto Jamenez 7-3. Frady picked up Denny Singletary, who was in the midst of a seven-match, loss-side streak that began when Dan Gordon sent him west in the opening round. With four behind him, Singletary defeated Boris Godwin 7-4 and prevailed in a double hill match against Jeff Jordan (Randy's brother) to reach Frady.

It was Singletary and Randy Jordan advancing to the quarterfinals; Singletary on the heels of a double hill win over Frady, Jordan with a 7-3 win over Lowery. Jordan then ended Singletary's loss-side streak with a 7-4 win in those quarterfinals, and advanced to meet Hooks.

A 7-3 win over Hooks in the semifinals gave Jordan a second shot at Middlebrook, and as he'd done in the earlier, winners' side final four battle, Jordan forced a final deciding game. Middlebrook, though, took that final game, winning 11-10 to claim the event title.

Tour director Mike Janis thanked Helena Thornfeldt and Monica Webb for being excellent hosts, as well as sponsors Simonis Cloth, Steve Lomax Cues, Kamui Tips, Silver Cup Chalk, Tim "The Monk" Miller, Sir Joseph Cue Gloves, Pool & Billiard Magazine, and GoPlayPool.com.
