Peter Mercaldi Wins Colorado All American Tour Stop

Greg Romero, Peter Mercaldi and Ray Padilla

The January 19-21 weekend featured four 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour stops around the country, one of them being a $1,000 added 8-ball event with thirty-two players, hosted by owner Todd Grosvenor and director Gary Holdren at Greenfield's Pool & Sports Bar in Lakewood, Colorado on Saturday. The American CueSports Alliance-produced event featured a double-elimination format on bar boxes, and Peter Mercaldi (Denver, CO) ran undefeated to the finals. In the hot-seat match, Mercaldi clipped Ray Padilla (Denver, CO). Earlier in the A-bracket semi-finals, Peter had turned back Chuey Rivera (Aurora, CO), and Ray out pointed Greg Romero (Denver, CO). The B-bracket action included Chisolm Woodson (Vail, CO) eliminating Chuey Rivera and Greg Romero ousting Rick Field (Lakewood, CO) in the quarterfinals; Romero finishing Chisolm Woodson's run in the semifinals; and Romero ejecting Padilla at 3rd place in the finals. The tourney finals came down to the case game, as Peter Mercaldi continued his winning success in the first set, 5-4, to claim the title over Greg Romero!.

By virtue of Peter Mercaldi being the highest-finishing ACS member, he qualified for a free singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS. The ACS wishes to thank sponsors McDermott Handcrafted Cues, Silver Cup Chalk, Billiard Wholesalers and Pro Series Cases for their support in donating “Value-In-Kind” product for this and all stops on the McDermott All American Tour.
