Clay Renfro wins DFW Shootout

It was a great three days in Dallas! A mini-Vegas type, event with 40 Valley Cougar tables, the DFW Shootout was extremely successful! Players from all over Texas came to have a chance at the nearly $9000.00 of prize money!

A tournament directed by Red River Pool Tournaments and sponsored by PoolTourneys.com, the entire field drew 87 participants, with separate divisions for Women, Masters, and Open players.

The Open division was by far the most full, and exciting. Although the field was small for both the Masters and Women's division the play was very tough and exciting to watch. On Sunday, the final day of the tournament, there were 8 remaining players. On the no loss side we had Clay Renfro (Dallas), Tony Hinojosa (Mansfield), Quentin Hunnewell (Dallas) and Tom Anderson (Arlington). On the one loss side, Ralph Cortez (Arlington), Doug Winnett (Sherman), Sammy Downs (Dallas), and Roman Bayda (Dallas)

In a great semi-finals match, Ralph Cortez and Clay Renfro went to the hill with Ralph beating Clay in the first set 9-8. The finals match didn't fare as well for Ralph as Clay won the Open event with a score of 9-6.

In the Master's division the field included such players as Gabe Owen, and T.J. Davis, both which ended on the losers side early on. Corey Anderson, of the Arlington area, played a great finals match against Chen Lee of Dallas. Corey, from the 1 loss side, beat Chen in the first match, but succumbed to Chen's ability on the second set.

In the Women's division Tara McCracken of Dallas, defeated Susan Bishop, also of Dallas, in the finals match. Both players are accomplished Hunter's Tour members, and are good friends. The match was an exciting one and fun to watch.

All the tournament players commented that the first time tournament went well, and with more participation in the upcoming events, the Pooltourneys.com tournament tour will be a huge success.
